4C chosen as finalist by Transform Cincinnati initiative
September 4, 2015
Transform Cincinnati is an initiative focused on matching passionate community investors and funders with organizations, projects and causes that will have lasting impact on the quality of life in Greater Cincinnati.
The proposal submitted by 4C seeks funding to help lay the groundwork so that CPP can take off when voters pass a ballot initiative in November 2016. This will eliminate delays experienced in other cities that found, after a successful ballot initiative, that momentum is lost while doing work that could have already been done.
This project would build the necessary systems, ensure a sufficient supply of high-quality preschool spots and allow children to be enrolled in quality programs as soon as the ballot initiative is passed. The idea is to lay a firm foundation to help ensure that through the Preschool Promise all children in the area have access to two years of high-quality, affordable preschool, regardless of income.
Transform Cincinnati received 150 entries in June. 4C and the other five finalists were notified in July and asked to prepare a presentation to possible investors on Sept. 30—a process likened to the TV show Shark Tank.
“We are very excited about being chosen as one of the six finalists,” says Vanessa Freytag, 4C presdient/CEO. “But we’re even more excited about the tremendous possibilities that funding this project will create for the families and children in Cincinnati. They will benefit—and our community will benefit—when quality preschool opportunities are afforded to everyone, regardless of their income levels.”
Investors participating in the Sept. 30 event must have between $1 million and $10 million to invest.
